Cuil (pronounced cool) dot com, http://Cuil.com is probably one of the biggest failures as a product launch since New Coke.
After hearing all the buzz about it today, I along with probably hundreds of thousands of others (since the site crashed several times) went to the site expected something extraordinary.
After all, it was created by a former Google geek who had the ultimate algorhythm to bring up the most relevant sites for your search word.
So to test it, I typed in the word Cedarlaneoholic (a person addicted to Cedarlane Natural Foods) and got...
A ton of sites totally unrelated to Cedarlaneoholics.com or Cedarlane Natural Foods. Just a wierd collection that appeared to be haphazardly put together.
My beloved Cedarlaneoholics.com site was nowhere to be found.
I got the same type (bad) results when I searched for Cedarlane Natural Foods.
So I doubt that I ever will give it a try again.
How Cuil is that?
Not very.
The best example however is when you search for Cuil.com. Their own site doesn't come up in the first 50 listings and after that I quit looking.
